Oh, this is going to be my first ever posted recon! :D Yay!
So, if you are a huge Batman fangirl/boy, like me, you might know about whysoserious.com. It was a cool game going on for the last year to advertise The Dark Knight. Earlier this year, a site came around related to the game: citizensforbatman.org, which I thought was awesomely cheesey. It was then decided that I would not survive without a shirt of my own to support Batman.

Hello everybody ! I'm Milla from Finland and I've been lurking in this community since year 2005, but I've never posted here before. I really love Japanese street fashion, but unfortunately my outfits are a bit boring. That's why I would like to ask for tips and have some constructive criticism on my outfits. Most of them are black and white only, because I'm lousy at coordinating colors and I'm not sure which colors would look good on me. ( ´ u `; )

does anyone knows where can i buy the colorful frame glasses? i tried to find it in everywhere i could, but all i could find were sunglasses, and i don't really wear sunglasses. i just want to wear it for coordination reason, so i don't want any degree on the lense. also, another question! where can i buy cute glasses straps? online, or offline, doesn't matter! thank you in advance! EDIT: i DID google but i couldn't find any style that i liked, that's why i posted in here. if you are going to write 'go to internet' just don't write the comment please. i found whole bunch of korean website that sells lots of stylish frames but they don't accept international payment, and i'm trying to find similar english sites.

Wow, tonight’s group ride at Stony Creek had, if I counted right, 25 people. It’s pretty nifty to be on such a large group ride.

I thought I would share the outfit I'm wearing to roller derby practice tonight! Fashion-wise, don't take me too seriously...I'm mostly dressed for practicality and, you know, sports. Just imagine this on roller skates with big ol' knee pads, a sticker-plastered skate helmet and a fierce grimace! ;)

Hello Kitty set -- TJ Maxx (pajama section). Surprisingly versatile! Polka dot cami -- H&M. Leggings -- So Low. Socks -- gift from a friend during her Korea visit. They have little pigs on them and say "Happy Smile!" on each foot.
Point of fashion -- sweet asskickery.

| [Discussion] Fashion Faux Pas |
[23 Jul 2008|04:58am] |
Searched the archives but didn't find anything like this.
I understand that in the fashion world and FRUiTS community, there is a lot of open-mindedness to conceptual styles that often break many so-called "rules" held by mainstream culture, from casual to formal. However, I can't help but wonder if there are certain rules in fashion that must never be broken (and here I'm not just talking about "omg muffin-top" but also "omg colorblind"), and if these rules also apply to the experimental realm of fashion and design. Or maybe that, in transference from conceptual to practical, certain barriers are set in place so that no outfit that might be considered an artwork on the catwalk would enter the streets to be a gaudy costume. Because I think we've all been in one of those situations where a person walks pass us and just reeks of flamboyance, enough for us to do a double-take and contort our faces in such a way as to make gargoyles cry. Or maybe it's someone whose outfit would give night a run for its money. Could be a living, breathing oriental rug walking past you, or a heap of clothing that even the Salvation Army wouldn't accept as a donation. By now I'm sure you've mustered up a smirk (if not more) with this food for thought.
Personally, I have a problem with guys who sport button-downs portraying any type of kana/mystical Chinese creature such as (but not excluded to): koi, dragons, tigers, and bears. There's a much better way to show off just how cool you are with your riced up '95 Accord, and this just isn't it. The shirts exude cheapness, they're more like murals than clothing, and they just can't be worn with any set of pants (unless you have matching cargo's to go with them).
For the girls: I'm intrigued by the fact that stretch-fit jeans can actually stretch that much. Aside from the obvious alternative of wearing a long-skirt, there are straight-legs to help with this all-too-common audacity. The sad reality is that this easily-repairable mishap is ignored so that our eyes are subject to every overflowing too-low-rider, complete with thong and its respective tan.
These observations have led me to embrace simplicity and my body shape; that I should only show off what looks good, and never to buy from China Town boutiques, no matter how much I adored Dragonball Z when I was a young sap. Never wear anything too big or too small, and please please please just buy a regular collared shirt.
So what are your fashion faux pas? Why should they be considered fashion faux pas? And most importantly, how has this augmented your personal style?
Mod(s) lock if the seriousness of this isn't up to FRUiTS's bomb-diggity standards. Not that I really need to say this, but please abide by community rules. No one's looking to hurt your feelings just because they don't agree with what you think looks ugly.
